The Cullens left, 19 years ago, to avoid suspicion.. and to avoid another strike by the Volturi. They temporarily relocated to another small town like Forks and have lived there for the past nineteen years. In their absence, the wolf pack shrunk again until only Jacob and a few others remained the same. Jacob wasn't even in Forks most of the time; he spent most of his time with the Cullens, visiting Renesmee.
Other things have changed too: Bella's former classmates have grown up and are living their own lives now; some are still in Forks, others have moved out to bigger towns with nicer weather. New people have moved in, more have moved out, but some things have remained the same. Oddly, the town hasn't managed to stay free of vampires: several people have been mysteriously killed over the years by vampiric nomads.
The Cullens never sold their house, though, and it has been empty all this time. Now that they're back, they moved right back in, and started up a new facade. The only people who remember the Cullens are Charlie and the Quileutes, not surprisingly. But when they came back, they didn't realize the danger that was watching them.
The Volturi didn't find where the Cullens had gone until just before they moved, but now that the Cullens are back where they know to go, the Volturi are preparing an unavoidable reason for elimination. The Cullens are completely unaware of the new danger, or they were, until they received a mysterious note. A note that only had three words on it. And those words were: "Watch your step."
They know that someone is waiting to strike, but they haven't quite realized who, or why. But they will... in due time.

Events;;
Benjamin has shown up at the Cullen Residence, while Alice & Bella have just gotten home from shopping. He has been hiding from the Volturi for twenty years, though, thanks to Bella, the Volturi have been unsuccessfully trying to track him. Renesmee suspects that this is why the Volturi have not come after them, though she has not voiced her suspicions yet.

Weather:: The sky is cloudy in Forks, as always, but it's not raining for once. The temperature is about 68 degrees(F) and seems like it will stay that way for awhile.
